The Cairns Post just before Christmas. It came as a shock; I'd put my heart and soul into editing the education supplement, "Post-Ed", and writing a weekly opinion column, published every Wednesday. People used to stop me in the street to discuss it, and I knew it was widely read, simply because of the number of people who wanted to talk about it.
I put together a little band, with me on bass and Jeff Cripps on drums. We had a great three days, even though the gigs in Cairns weren't packed out.
We slept in cabins with air-conditioning and a fridge, and left the next morning feeling good. I hope we can do more of these in the not-too-distant future.
a Christmas present from a friend.
What a Godsend. It's like a blender on speed, you just throw in the ingredients and away you go. Sweet or savoury, it doesn't matter. It's instant nutrition.
I throw in fresh fruit and orange juice with a load of ice.
It's better than beer, believe me.
We did this gig for a couple of years, but all good things come to an end. As I write, the owners are trying to find a buyer.
I'll put a YouTube link at the bottom of this post of a song composed and recorded with Bek and Shirley Lynn as an example. You won't find a studio better than this, believe me.
